How to accessorize your shelves

HGTV Emily Henderson

I am often asked by friends what should I do with my bookcases?  Here is a beautiful example of perfect styling.  The books are similar in color and there is variation in height and shape.  Also, the space is simple and not overcrowded.  My preference is to take off the dust jackets of the book.

During spring break my sister's friend asked me to come over for some paint advice.  She has an amazing restored farmhouse.  On the back side of the house there were 10 different paint stripes.  I found a few images and some helpful websites.  First, you can try this website to look at a combination of exterior paint colors.  I also found a website that will send you paint samples of colors found on old colonial homes and farmhouses.

Fun with Fabric

I visited a store called Excentricities in South Florida.  Amazing bright and happy fabrics.  I would not have thought to mix pink, green and a navy stripe bag. I love the look.

How to get inspiration

Coastal Living
Most of us are never going to be able to afford this beautiful home.  Why not take something from this photograph.  The first thing I noticed was the sea blue porch ceiling on the upper floor.  Use this paint color to inspire you to paint a table this color.  Or, maybe you would love a picket fence but cannot have one that goes all the way around your property.  As you can see in the photo the fence is only used for part of the yard. Find things you like and pull inspiration from them.

There must be a space in your kitchen that you could carve out a wall and add this beautiful pantry.

Better Homes and Gardens
Happy Valentine's Day
Here is a great idea.  Cut out lettering, zig zag stitch onto fabric and make into a pillow.

These pictures are from our realtor.  Unfortunately, we are selling our home and moving to another city.  After 3 years of working to personalize our home by adding more storage and character it is time to sell.  That is how it always happens.  The exciting part is I didn't have any more curtains to make and my husband was running out of projects.  It will be a fresh start.  In the coming weeks I will post more pictures of the house.
